  • Farmlife

This past weekend I visited my brother and sister-in-law on their farm. And let me tell you, it’s impressive to see how much work they put into keeping their animals, as well as building a house and taking care of the fields. I helped them lay new paths, weed and prepare the rows where they will be planting potatoes. I definitely got my workout in and was quite sore the next day. My task for the weekend was collecting eggs from the henhouses and I collected around thirty eggs every afternoon. The chickens are free-range, which ment that we needed to watch them carefully a few times because there was a Hawk circling, looking for its next meal.

Just a short walk from their house is a lake called Mjøsa. After some sunbathing (for me) and swimming (for them), we checked on the bees that they keep. The bees looked healthy and had already started making honey. I also got to meet the newes batch of kittens. They are only a month old and have just started to clumsily playfight with each other. The mum cat Drops has kittens twice a year which makes it extra special to come and visit.

Today we did a plant and clothes exchange at a cafe. We had re-potted some plants yesterday and they were exchanged for other plants. I even found a dress that fits perfectly. It was quite a popular event and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Before taking the train back home, we made a last stop at a public park pictured on the right bottom corner. We’ve been so lucky with the weather these past few days and I have really enjoyed spending time outdoors.

    Untill next time readers 😉

  • I’m back!

Hi there, I’ve been away for some time focusing on other projects, but I’m back and ready to keep you updated and immersed in my creative space.

    Life lately

In march I traveled to Argentina and Antarctica. I took a Hurtigruten Expeditions cruise to the Antarctica Peninsula and saw a lot of cool wildlife: whales, penguins, seals and birds. I even did a polar plunge as pictured above with a sea temperature of 3 degrees and C, and air temperature of -2 degrees. The first night on land I camped overnight in a tent, which was very cold even with many layers of wool.

In Argentina I visited the national park in Ushuaia, Patagonia and flew back to Buenos Aires. I went to a Tango show, saw Teatro Colon, visited many restaurants with amazing argentinian food, went on a historic bike tour of the city and even took the ferry to a small historic city in Uruguay.

My husband and I are working on visiting all the continents, and so far we are only missing Oceania, which we hope to be able to do next year. Let me know if you have any recommendations for Australia and New Zealand!

  • Hello World!

Welcome to my page. Here I will be posting my reflections on life, what interests me and some creative posts about art and music. I am a hobby artist and also write and play music. Enjoy!

  • Summer goals

We have a lot of expectations and goals surrounding the summer months. Getting the perfect beach body, having the coolest summer travel plans and insta-friendly vacation pictures are a few of these. As I’ve entered my thirties, I have learned a few things that I’d like to share with you.

Let’s be real, weightloss after a certain age is not as easy as when you are in your early twenties. Now I’m not saying it can’t be done because lifestyle changes, food habits and moving your body regularly will help. However, personally I struggle with motivating myself to go to a fitness center after a long day at work, and netflix takes a lot less energy then and there. These last few months I have tried to prioritize my health, and the way I do that is following some simple steps. First, I didn’t make any drastic changes which I couldn’t follow through on and secondly, no crash dieting or extreme measures. I am changing my eating habits slowly by focusing on eating fresh produce and foods that haven’t been ultraprocessed or have a lot of sugar in them. I have tried a lot of different things to not eat more than my body needs, including intermittent fasting and counting calories. These did not work for me long term. Surprisingly, what has given me the best result on my weightloss journey is not eating after dinner which normally I will have eaten between 5 and 6 pm. I find that after dinner I have had a tendency to snack. Giving my digestive system time to rest as well as not eating more calories than my body can burn has been key. Though, if I once in a while do eat after dinner in for example social settings, I do not beat myself up and just make sure that 80% of the time I follow this goal I have set for myself.

In my twenties I would look at Instagram and other social media platforms and dream of having the bodies of the models or celebrities. It is sad how much we compare oursels to others and I am so glad that my childhood was not shaped by social media the same ways as it is for the new generations. It has been quite a learning and loving process where I have grown to appreciate and even love my body the way that it is. I do believe in trying to be the healthiest version of myself, but I also accept that I don’t have as much time and flexibility as when I was a student. Instead of focusing on getting to the same weight as I was at my lowest, I am focusing on building strength and endurance so that I can be proud of my body and what it can do. Self love is so important, and having a positive internal dialogue and surrounding yourself with people who give you energy can really help your confidence and empowerment.

Summer is a time for renewed energy, fun and rest. Take those instapictures on the beach this summer wearing that summer dress or sunhat that makes you feel confident and have fun with it. Confidence is not how you look in a swimsuit, it is what comes from within and shines through in the way you carry yourself and speak to others. Wearing something you feel good about yourself in will also spark that confidence.

Lastly, you might not be able to afford those trips to expensive resorts or travel to cool faraway destinations, but figure out what you can do locally. For example participate in music festivals or concerts, visit a local vinyard, go to the beach with a partner or friends or try out new food experiences. I think you will be surprised by how many affordable possibilities there are in your area.

Thanks for reading and happy summer!

  • Planting season

This past month I have been planting vegetables, herbs and berries. So far I have planted strawberries which are blooming and have had a lot of sun, tomatoes that are already starting to redden and red bell peppers. I have also planted maiz and basilicum. The best part of springtime is watching things grow and become green again, and this year spring came very quickly to my city.

Strawberries, basilicum, tomatoes and bell peppers

Last year I planted cherry tomatoes from seeds, and they grew very quickly and even flowered. However, being quite inexperienced, I didn’t give them enough fertilizer. Fertilizing is very important for tomato plant health, and unfortunately they ended up dying after they started flowering from lack of proper nutrients. This year I have learned from my mistakes and am fertilizing them every other week.

  • Nepal and Bali

    Dream vacation

Dear readers, it’s been a while. I just got back from Nepal and Bali, two wonderful places. My favorite thing in Nepal was a private helicopter tour to one of Mount Everests base camps! The views were stunning, not to mention so cool to see the worlds tallest mountain. But best of all, my now fiancé proposed to me in the sweetest way with a custom made ruby and diamond ring on Mount Everest! I was taken fully by surprise and love how much thought and planning he put into both making the ring and proposing.

    Isn’t it beautiful?

Bali. Endless beaches, monkey forests, delicious food and friendly people. This quickly became a favorite place. We stayed at 3 different hotels: in Seminyak, Ubud and Jimbaran. At the first place we mainly relaxed by the pool and the beach which had direct access from the hotel. I tried surfing for the first time and it was so much harder than expected! Ubud was the place where we did the most activities. We visited the Monkey Forest, rice terraces took an Instagram tour with Bali’s most famous (and instaworthy) locations. We saw the Gates of Heaven, a water palace with loads of fish we fed, a waterfall and rice terraces where we got to sit on a swing wearing a dress. We also made our own silver jewelry. I made a ring and earrings.

The last three days were spent in Jimbaran at the most luxurious hotel we’ve stayed at. We went to an elephant sanctuary and got to wash and swim with them. The next day we went snorkeling and saw turtles, stingrays and lots of colorful fish. We visited a small island called Nusa Penida which has a cool mountain formation.

We had a wonderful time and I recommend visiting especially Bali! I’m already missing the heat, beaches and delicious hotel breakfasts.

  • Tanzania travels

Hi lovelies, today I will share some pictures from my travels in Tanzania in November-December. Ever since I was little I’ve been used to traveling to different countries every year, and I do so whenever I can. Covid-19 definitely put travel on pause, which is why I’m so glad we got to go to Tanzania at the end of 2022.

Boat ride out to Prison Island in Zanzibar

Visiting Tanzania we started out in Dar es Salaam, which is one of the biggest cities in the country. We stayed at the Hyatt Hotel and enjoyed our 5 star stay, with a lovely pool, delicious breakfast and food and rooftop views. We stayed in Dar es Salaam for 5 days before we took the ferry over to Zanzibar.

View from Holiday Inn rooftop restaurant

Though Dar es Salaam was nice, it was quite crowded and there weren’t that many tourist attractions. Zanzibar on the other hand, had a lot of attractions.

    Preparation for boat tour

On our boat tour we got to snorkle with dolphins, see tropical fish by a reef, hang out on a sandbank at low-tide and see many colorful starfish

Otters at a wildlife rescue center Cheetah’s Rock

Our last full day before travelling home again we got to visit Cheetah’s Rock and I think we both agreed that this was one of our favorite days. We helped feed the otters and swam with them and they behaved just like childre, fighting with each other over food and being very loud. Afterwards we toured the rest of the center and got to pet white lions, bush babies, dik diks, lemurs, a zebra, a cheetah and even a tiger. Most of the animals were very used to humans and allowed us to pet them, but we had to be a bit careful with the big cats.

A tortoise who was over a 100 years old on Prison Island. The oldest there was 196 years old
Endangered white lion engaged in a breeding program to increase numbers
My favorite Cheetah Latifa, very calm around people and let us pet her as long as she received treats

We had an amazing holiday, got to learn a lot about African culture and heard many Hakuna Matata’s (means no worries) from our Swahili guides. Leaving temperatures of around 32C we arrived back to -10C in Norway and immidately missed Tanzanias heat and sun.

  • Busybee

Have you ever had a crazy week where it just leaves you exhausted towards the end of the week? That was me last week.

Modern society gives you more value if you are productive all the time. You can argue that you shouldn’t let society define what is acceptable or correct, but in the end we are shaped by the expectations around us.

Here’s a wonderful memory from my last summer holiday.

    Last summer in Nordkapp, Norway

Let’s take an example from my life. I’m currently taking a Msc in Global Health, I work two jobs, I workout on average 5 times a week and also have a social life. Last weekend I took a climbing course (certified to secure climbers, yay!) and in the evenings after the course I had dinner with my friends and went to a concert. Then I worked 2 days, where one of my shifts was 12 hours. Between working, kickboxing and climbing, and hanging out with friends I worked on my Thesis. That didn’t leave much time for rest. So when this weekend came around it was nice to just relax and binge watch The Handmaids Tale. On saturday I met a friend at a bar to see another friend and his band (Fabeldyr) play their music.

Because I’m an extrovert and love having a lot going on it also sometimes makes me say Yes to more than I have the energy for. So lately I’ve been more mindful of how I spend my time. This week I have slightly less planned and it feels good 😀

  • Realism with a touch of magic

  • Planner

Does anyone else love to plan their weeks, months, years? I’m a huge planner. I’m unhappy if I look in my planner and don’t have anything lined up for the week. Also, I’m old fashioned. My planner is not online because I find it too impersonal. I love making little sketches, writing a to-do list (it’s so satistying to cross out) and using stickers that represent my plans. Recently I went on holiday to Tanzania and now I have one of my favorite photos from the holiday as the cover. I guess I use it as a memory book. I can always look back and see what I did that day, month and so on. This weekend I’m going to become a certified belayer (climbing lead certification) with a group of friends. Afterwards we will go to a brewery to eat dinner and have drinks. On sunday I will eat out with a former collegue and friend. What do you look forward to this weekend?

I love personalized things. In this planner I have designed the way the pages look as well as having some end pages: Books to read, a watchlist, travelguides and a budgeting list.

  • Painting of Bakklandet

One of my favorite places in Trondheim, the city I Iive in, is a place called Bakklandet, so I decided to paint it
