Tanzania travels

Hi lovelies, today I will share some pictures from my travels in Tanzania in November-December. Ever since I was little I’ve been used to traveling to different countries every year, and I do so whenever I can. Covid-19 definitely put travel on pause, which is why I’m so glad we got to go to Tanzania at the end of 2022.

Boat ride out to Prison Island in Zanzibar

Visiting Tanzania we started out in Dar es Salaam, which is one of the biggest cities in the country. We stayed at the Hyatt Hotel and enjoyed our 5 star stay, with a lovely pool, delicious breakfast and food and rooftop views. We stayed in Dar es Salaam for 5 days before we took the ferry over to Zanzibar.

Though Dar es Salaam was nice, it was quite crowded and there weren’t that many tourist attractions. Zanzibar on the other hand, had a lot of attractions.

On our boat tour we got to snorkle with dolphins, see tropical fish by a reef, hang out on a sandbank at low-tide and see many colorful starfish

Otters at a wildlife rescue center Cheetah’s Rock

Our last full day before travelling home again we got to visit Cheetah’s Rock and I think we both agreed that this was one of our favorite days. We helped feed the otters and swam with them and they behaved just like childre, fighting with each other over food and being very loud. Afterwards we toured the rest of the center and got to pet white lions, bush babies, dik diks, lemurs, a zebra, a cheetah and even a tiger. Most of the animals were very used to humans and allowed us to pet them, but we had to be a bit careful with the big cats.

My favorite Cheetah Latifa, very calm around people and let us pet her as long as she received treats

We had an amazing holiday, got to learn a lot about African culture and heard many Hakuna Matata’s (means no worries) from our Swahili guides. Leaving temperatures of around 32C we arrived back to -10C in Norway and immidately missed Tanzanias heat and sun.
